A Refurbished Neuton Mower Story
I was like a kid at Christmas when it arrived, tore open the box and assembled it right there in the family room. It was a thing of beauty. I don’t know what was used and refurbished about it, it looked brand new!
A few days later it finally stopped raining and I gave it a whirl. It does a tremendous job on the yard. We have about 7,000 square feet of yard and it breezed right through it.

St. Petersburg Times blogs about Battery-Powered Mowers

Neutons, Baseball and Home Run Apples
After quick charge, my battery was ready to go and I headed out to grab my little green machine. Within a matter of seconds, not hours, my Neuton 19 inch model was up and running. Just a few flicks of some switches and I was on my way, humming quietly along my yard much to the delight of my neighbors. Gliding through my lawn with ease, I used the adjustable height settings to ensure both the thinner grass of my front lawn and the thicker patches along the side of my house were both trimmed to perfection.
After only doing a light spring pick up of fallen branches, I admit I was worried about catching a few stray twigs and how the mower would handle it. But it never ceases to amaze me how this mower, running on a battery, still has heavy duty power behind it. After the lawn was manicured, I strapped on my Trimmer/Edger attachment to the front of my machine. This little innovation is fantastic. The trimmer/edger left my driveway and sidewalk pristine while again saving me the aggravation of gassing, priming and choking an intrusively noisy weed wacker. After 45 minutes of spring time therapy, my lawn came away reflecting my mood: utterly perfect.
Having put the first cut behind me like a breeze, my mind wandered at the possibilities. A summer of smooth, beautiful lawn without getting gasoline on my hands; what could be next?
After perusing the Neuton catalog, my next great conquest came to me quickly. As an avid Mets fan, my next lawn project will be to make over my yard using my Neuton mower as close to new Citi Field specifications as possible. To do this: Neuton’s Striping attachment, which will allow me to get that ballpark look to celebrate the inaugural season of my team’s new home. Now, if I could only get my hands on a replica home run apple for my back yard!

Neuton Battery-Powered Mowers Win Rave Reviews!
Check out what they have to say over at BestStuff.com!
The Neuton Mower is easy to start and weighs half the weight of the typical lawn mower the same size. One of the benefits that this lawn mower has (and your neighbors will like) is the noise. There is very little noise compared to the gas equivalent lawn mower. My neighbor has an electric lawn mower, and he chases a cord through his lawn every weekend. He has actually cut the cord accidentally several times!

State & Lake report on the Neuton CE 6
Another reviewer is going green!
I will admit having a fascination with gas guzzling, oil burning, spark plug wielding lawn mowers. I believe this fascination goes back to the days of removing those old Briggs & Stratton engines to make go-carts. Ahhh, those were the days. There was always something special about the sound of those engines. Today, however, I’m finding I can no longer tolerate the noise, the smoke, and the weight of the gas guzzlers. The fondness and the love affair have faded.
Two weeks ago, while surveying the wild forest taking root in my backyard, I decided this would be the year to turn away from my gas guzzling ways and go green. My mother purchased one of those Neuton lawn mowers and I was quite smitten with it though I did not realize it at the time. It is quiet, light weight and did the job. One Saturday, my mother and I decided to do dueling lawn mowers in the front yard. There I was with my loud and obnoxious gas guzzler and she with her dainty and quiet little Neuton.

Neuton CE 6.2: 2009 Editors' Choice Award Winner

Break out the red carpet. It's awards season! And the Neuton CE 6.2 just snagged the 2009 Editors' Choice Award from Organic Gardening.
Here's what they had to say about the Neuton Mower:
Of the three battery-operated mowers we tested, the Neuton CE 6.2 battery-powered mower cut more consistently than the others. It chopped down thick, at times damp, grass with steady power. With its mulching plug (included) in place, the mower left fine clippings on the lawn that decomposed in a few days. Its 19-inch cutting width is just slightly narrower than the typical gas-powered mower. The Neuton's 36-volt battery takes eight hours to charge and provides power for about an hour.
A few minor but valuable features also distinguish the Neuton from the competition. An easy-to-read gauge lets you know when the battery's charge is waning. You can remove the battery from the mower when you need to recharge it--a handy option for those who don't have a power source where they store their mower. It was the only model we tested that let you keep a spare battery (sold separately), which can double the length of time you have to cut the lawn. And you can raise the cutting height to a healthy 3 inches tall with the shift of a single lever. For that reason alone, we recommend this mower to any organic gardener caring for a lawn that's one-third of an acre or less.
See all the award winners here!

Neuton and Clean Air Lawn Care Team Up
If you don't mow your own lawn, but instead have a lawn service cover the task, consider this team: Clean Air Lawn Care.
They're based in Colorado, but are opening franchises across the country. They even stopped by Vergennes, Vermont last summer to say, "Hey." We spent a couple of days talking about lawn mowers and lawn mowing. Since they are "changing the way America mows the lawn" and we are too, we decided to team-up.
Clean Air Lawn Care now uses Neuton Mowers!
P.S. They just launched a new service in Bellingham, Washington. You can read about it here.

In short, I don’t have a single bad thing to say...
Mark Healey raves about the Neuton CE 5.2 over on his blog. Here are some of the highlights:
Usually reviews are supposed to include pros and cons, but I can flatly state this mower has none of the latter....
The battery life, which I was originally concerned about, turned out to be more than sufficient. In fact, we found we could do two mowings on a single charge....
In my eyes, the Neuton has already paid for itself in just one summer.

The health effects of pollution -- and something to do about it
Today's Los Angeles Times has a story on the financial costs and health risks of air pollution in California. It's pretty scary.
The California economy loses about $28 billion annually due to premature deaths and illnesses linked to ozone and particulates spewed from hundreds of locations in the South Coast and San Joaquin air basins....
Considered the most lethal form of air pollution, microscopic particulates expelled from tailpipes, factory smoke stacks, diesel trucks and equipment can penetrate through the lungs and enter the bloodstream. Exposure to these fine particles has been linked to severe asthma, cancer and premature deaths from heart and lung disease.
Gas powered lawn mowers are some of the culprits of this mess.
There is a simple step many people can take to clean the air, protect their pocketbooks and reduce the risks to their health: recycle their old gas mowers and replace them with a emissions-free Neuton Battery-Powered Mowers.

"The CE 6.2 was pure joy to operate."
The good folks at GRIT had a chance to test drive a Neuton last weekend. The lawn was a "patchy" and "full of leaves" -- as good a test case as you're likely to find.
What did they think?
The things I really liked about this mowing experience center on the Neuton’s electric power system, its low-noise, no-fume characteristics, and the fact that it has one of the nicest safety interlock systems of any power mower I have ever used. Gone are the lever and bail type safety clutch controls. In their place is an ergonomically perfect switch that’s been integrally designed into the handle. Wow. What a treat.
Learn more about the Neuton CE 6.2 here.
